Condensed Pilot Card

Izzet Prowess Unprotected Clock · Aug 2026

ThesisThe clock is the protection. Cast two spells a turn, convert every trigger into damage, and finish before their removal outnumbers your threats.
Premium openingTwo lands, a one-drop, a cantrip, and a free spell to reach Flurry on turn two.
Best proactive lineTurn one one-drop, turn two Cutter plus a free spell, attack with a hasty Monk and a grown one-drop.
Key sequencing ruleCast the free spell second, not first. Flurry counts spells, and the free ones are the cheapest way to reach two.
Key rules edgePlot exiles Slickshot from hand, so discard cannot see it.
Against removal decksDo not hold pump as insurance. It answers damage, and they are not using damage.
Against blockersBurn the blocker only if it blocks the attacker that matters; otherwise go face.
Sideboarding ruleCut the pump before the threats. The deck loses to running out of clock, not to losing a combat.

Two spells a turn, every turn. The clock is the protection.

From the guide . §19 Condensed Pilot Summary

Everything above, compressed to what fits beside a play mat.

Pilot noteThe clock is the protection. There is no second plan, and holding a card back to defend the first one usually costs more clock than it saves.
